US 1961-63 Stamp set

Here are descriptions of some of the stamps that are included in this assorted US Stamps package # 4001 1961 4¢ Republic of China. This stamp was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of China’s revolt against the Qing Empire. It pictures Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, a founding father of the Republic of China and the country’s first president. Issue Date: October 10, 1961, Perforations: 10½ X 11, Color: Blue 4¢ Shiloh - Civil War Centennial Series, commemorates the Battle of Shiloh. The stamp shows a Civil War rifleman ducking behind a tree stump. The stamp was printed on peach blossom colored paper to honor the fact that an important part of the battle was fought in a peach orchard. Issue Date: April 7, 1962. Perforations: 11 x 10 ½, Color: Black on peach blossom. 1962 4¢ Higher Education, was issued to honor the role of higher education in the development of the United States. The stamp was issued in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges. Issue Date: November 14, 1962, Perforations: 11, Color: Blue green and black 1962 4¢ Arizona Statehood, commemorates the 50th anniversary of Arizona’s addition as the 48th U.S. state. The stamp shows a moonlit scene and a close-up of a saguaro cactus and its flower, the official state flower of Arizona. Issue Date: February 14, 1962, Perforations: 11, Color: Carmine, violet blue and green 1963 5¢ Carolina Charter, commemorates the 300th anniversary of the Signing of the Carolina Charter, which established the Province of Carolina as a British colony. The stamp shows a document similar, to the charter, based on a photograph of the original that is now kept in Raleigh, North Carolina. Issue Date: April 6, 1963. Perforations: 11, Color: Dark carmine and brown 1962-66 1¢ Andrew Johnson - Coil Stamp, In 1963, this 1¢ Andrew Jackson stamp was issued in part to help make up differences in postage from the old 4¢ stamps, to the new 5¢ postal rate. The design was based on a medal created by the U.S. Mint in 1829. this was issued in Chicago, during the Combined Philatelic Exhibition of Chicagoland (COMPEX). Issue Date: May 31, 1963.
